“AMI commonly known as heart attack is the commonest cause of death, and even sudden death, in the age group of 45 to 55 years. If treatment is done within one hour effectively, mortality can be reduced from nine percent to three percent, if delay of three to four hours, mortality could be five times higher. Success depends upon prompt detection.
As of now, the conventional methods has low sensitivity in early detection. Therefore, only 15 percent or less patients can receive treatment in the first golden hour. One major drawback is enzymatic detection of acute heart attack. During the heart attack several enzyme levels go up but these does not take place in first four to six hours. Therefore, they are not useful in early detection. The newly developed ‘CardioDetect’ testing system has extremely high sensitivity and is having high specificity for the detection of heart attack.(…)” |
