The first study in India about H-FABP concluded that "H-FABP is a promising biomarker for the early detection of patients with acute coronary syndrome". The clinical research was carried out at the Department of Biochemistry and Clinical Lab, International Centre for Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Diseases, Frontier Lifeline & Dr. K.M. Cherian Heart Foundation, Chennai, India. The study included 485 subjects. Within 4-6 h after symptom onset sensitivity and specificity were found to be 87% (H-FABP), 57% (CK-MB), 54% (Troponin I) and 93% (H-FABP), 93% (CK-MB), 95% (Troponin I), respectively.
